I blog, pin, tweet about topics relating to wellness. Any thing that can support wellness is of interest to me! With the rising costs of health care, everything we can do (or avoid doing) which may benefit our overall well being helping to steer clear of more serious interventions--I'm all for it. I am not a medical professional and am not recommended any medical treatments--talk to your primary care physician for that! Wellness simply supports the body's own natural healing process and is what you do every day to hopefully have more healthy days than unhealthy ones. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
What is it, you ask? The first ever (at least as far as I am aware) DIY ONLINE AT HOME Martial Arts classes. It is a great way to get started. Give it a try. If you register, kindly visit my profile and add me your friend–I’d love to follow you.
Now on to the features:
In the illustration to the right(which is a screen shot from the website ) you will see the current course offerings. There are new courses being added, new lessons begin added, and new types of martial arts instruction offered. There is also a community forum you can use to ask any questions you may have receiving instructor feedback or get social with other students (n
ot required). You have your own profile you can modify and it allows (but doesn’t require) for you to friend fellow students and instructors. There are a number of free courses, and some premium courses as well. I’ve taken a few in-person classes before in different areas, and these classes are quality lessons, usually in the format of video instruction. You can follow along. You can re-start and re-do a lesson any number of times. Classes appear to be life-long access. Some courses have downloads you can study. All of it is FUN
and a great workout to boot. If you live rurally, this is so much better than not having a place to learn, practice these skills.
The home page also has a fun summary of classes you can take, new lessons which have been added since your last long in, and different focus/fun/friendly competition–such as this month’s (I’m currently #2!). If you sign up to take any classes, please visit my profile and add me as a friend–let me know you read about this great opportunity at my blog or on SparkPeople. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Just received an email from Steve Cabral in which he is sharing a secret video entitled How to Lose 5 Pounds in 7 Days. Normally, I don’t bother with such obvious “marketing” techniques, as well all know by now the standard disclaimer “results shown are not typical.” However, Steven Cabral puts out some great stuff so I gave a listen.
In exchange for my time, I found his main tip centers around avoiding inflammatory foods.
Stay away from foods which are highly glycemic. Eat foods that don’t spike your blood sugar.
Inflammation can result from work, stress, lack of sleep: anything which creates higher levels of cortisol in the body.
There are foods, when you eat them, that mimic the stress hormone cortisol in the body. Don’t eat them! They will make you fat.
The secret to weight loss is decrease inflammatory foods and increase consumption of anti-inflammatory foods.
Stay away from meats that have a lot of visible fat on them.
Exotic fruits like mango, papaya, etc.
No more than a hand-full of nuts per day. Nuts are anti-inflammatory.
The WaterPik oral care device has several models. The one shown here is their “Complete Care” model which includes a sonic toothbrush as well as a water flosser. The videos, below, demonstrate using a model which just includes the WaterFlosser. The difference in price is very frugal compared to purchasing a sonic toothbrush and the water flosser separately. The toothbrush recharges when ever it is in the base, runs for 2 minutes and then automatically shuts off, and has a brief pause at the 30 second, 60 second, and 90 second mark so you can clean each quadrant of the teeth and gums consistently each day. A travel toothbrush case is included with the complete care set. There are two toothbrush tips included: small and medium sized. The water flosser includes various pressure settings, various tips, instructions for use, and a storage container for your tips.
We started this series on Dental Health this week taking a look at the video from the OraWellness.Com website regarding cell phone use and its connection to dental health.
